Purchaser Intelligence Report – Hunters in the Sky

A pet peeve of mine—and other wargame purchasers—with respect to many air and naval combat games is the lack of a comprehensive list of ships or aircraft included in the game. Short of purchasing the product we have no idea if the particular units of interest (or obsession) are included.

There are often good reasons that a designer does not include certain vessels or planes. Even though your grandfather may have flown that particular exotic Mark of Spitfire, that Mark may just not have been militarily significant or numerous enough to include with a publisher breathing down the designer's neck about being six pages too long for an economical printing run. On the other end of the scale a designer may make less explicable omissions on personal judgment, or just outright forget. In between lie situations where reliable and complete information may be impossible or impractical to obtain for a certain unit.

The following is a list of the 118 aircraft included in the game title “Hunters in the Sky” from Polaris Games. This game concerns aerial combat in the Second World War. There are numerous and significant omissions particularly with regard to naval aircraft.
