One full day of Gencon has gone by and nobody has done a first look, box opening video yet? I am disappointed in you people!

Is Gencon even going on now? Aside from the BGG tv window on the homepage I have seen very little posts/discussion about what's going on. Is it possible that we have reached the saturation point in pre-gencon coverage so that when the con actually gets here there is nothing left to talk about?

But back on topic - c'mon, let's see those Twin Shadows pictures!

The best way to see what's going on at Gencon is to follow bigger podcasters and the publishers on Twitter.

BGG, Dice Tower, Fantasy Flight, Asmodee, Stronghold, Watch It Played, and many others are tweeting at least hourly.

I live in the city of Gulf, on the shores of Lake Water. This fun fact has nothing to do with this badge you're pointing at.

I was underwhelmed by the campaign.

3 missions and no spots for side missions? Hooray, one game night (maybe two) and the expansion is complete. Blah.

Return to Hoth, however, looks quite a bit beefier.

You're kidding me. That's.....very small. Disappointing. I may have to skip it at the price tag.

It comes with 6 missions not 3.

Has anyone from GenCon actually played this yet?? I am curious how the missions play out. How are the new heroes and the Imperial Leadership class cards? Any other new bits of information we haven't seen yet? Supply cards, weapons, agenda's ect??

This fits with the way the 'small box' expansions for Descent 2nd edition were laid out. Four to six missions that can be played in a short mini campaign, and all the options so you can add those missions into a big box campaign. I'm not seeing anything very surprising or disappointing here.

But two of those missions are RED for the new heroes.

I am a bit surprised that the mini campaign is 3 not 4 missions.

Oh well, I am buying this for the new heroes, agendas, and the new IP class deck.

Me too. See this thread:

Anyway people who bought the game at GenCon should have the information...

I wanted to see what new tiles were coming out. Less of an unboxing, and more of a card overview, I'd say.

Good strategy preview. thanks.

I unboxed my copy yesterday--a few of the tiny tiles (have a lot in core set), 2-3 larger room-sized tiles, and one HUGE tile that looks to be the entire Cantina from the Episode IV. That tile alone took up half of a punchplate.

Other than that, more damage & strain tokens, the Wound tokens, and 6-8 new tokens that looked like some sort of machinery--maybe for tusken raiders?

Had my wife send me a pic of the booklet since I'm at work.

So I can see where they say 6 missions, but that's deceptive.

1 intro
2 missions (can change depending on Imperial/Rebel winner)
1 finale (finale looks to be the same regardless of winner)

Total of 6 missions, but the 'campaign' is only 4.

It's a small expansion, not a big box expansion like Return to Hoth. 4 campaign missions with everything else is fine.

It will scratch a small itch to play, but I guess I was hoping for something a bit lengthier.

By picking up Imperial Assault right when it launched, I guess I hurt our chances to play and keep playing since we would run out of stuff to do. These 4 missions will last us about a month, and after that it's on to something else until the next expansion hits this fall/winter maybe.

Time to give Descent a good look in the meantime!

Why not start a new Core set campaign and roll in the new missions?

The contents made Hoth look about the same size as Twin Shadows... But Im really hoping for lots of snow to move my walkers around on!

A big part of playing through the first time are the surprises that happen when doors open, deployments, etc.

Once the Rebels have seen it all, it gives them a distinct advantage. Not to mention they won all but 2 of the original campaign missions, they would probably see the same missions the entire way through.

This should be the device tokens for the new character Saska Teft.

Would it be too much to ask for some pics of the tiles? I am super excited and want to see as much as possible...

Then just play the story missions you didn't play last time instead - story won't make as much sense but you can do a campaign with all new missions except Aftermath.
