After looking at some of the large risk boards online, I decided to try making my own. The size is 4'x6' which fits perfect on the table I finished up a couple weeks ago. It is painted on 1/8" particle board and will be finished in oak trim with a plexiglass layer to make sliding of the pieces easier. I will be starting on a Diplomacy map after this project.

I began by building a large easel in my theater room, so I could project the image onto the board.

Next I found a map off of google images that I liked, and traced all of the lines.

I then used acrylic paint to paint all of the borders.

It took about 3 hours to paint all of the countries.

Wow I was distracted by the theater room

Do you have scaled up minis to go with the jumbo map?

Thanks, the theater was last years DIY project. I saw on one of the searches I did that someone attached army men to poker chips and then painted them. That is unless I can find something else.

You'd definitely need one of those "Napoleon's war room" style croupier sticks.

That's awesome. It would be pretty legit to be pushing armies around with that thing!

... of corse you now also need a Casino style table to throw the dice.(:
Seriously though, I wouldn't want to roll dice on the plexiglass surface.

Nice project! (The theater as well, do you have more photos?)

I've been doing some research on croupier sticks, Definitely will be picking one up. I'll throw a few theater pics on if no one minds.

Here's the ceiling I painted using bioluminescent paint

Looking towards back

Looking forward

The front row of seating has low frequency transducers, so you really feel the movie. We really use the theater for Mario Kart and xbox anymore.
Sorry for going off topic

That's not a bad idea, I might have to see how well I can make that work. I'm gonna take a break from painting for awhile. This turned into a headache.

you could even turn the map into the RISK AD (forgot the full name) or was it Revo / Evolution? well what i mean is,

If possible and money is not the problem. you could put some foil over the map , clam it on the Table on the Edges and paint with some Water based Markers on it. Later if you want to reset your Map just wash it away.

Are you thinking of Risk 2210 AD? It's my favorite version by far and the only one I can get anyone to play with me. He would have to significantly change the map to play it.
