I don't know about you guys, but I am really enjoying the newest expansion! It has so much more to offer especially story-wise. The ideas are already turning in my head and there are things I just can't wait to try out. Like I have said in the past this set of Weekly Challenges main focus is on the story of Heroes and while villains will sometimes be heroes you won't see much of that in this series. It might happen, but it won't often. I am still allow more time for people to get a copy of the latest expansion so only one more after this one and the Secret Wars will begin.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

The War Between Worlds

Thanos is coming to earth, the Skrulls know it, the Kree know it, and Heroes of the Galaxy and Earth knows it. The Skrulls and Kree have been at war with each other for a very long time and for a good amount of that time earth has been their battlefield, but this time it is all out no holds bar war and it is up to the heroes to mitigate the damage and keep the earth safe and to keep the Infinity Gems protected. In the end it doesn't matter if the Kree win or the Skrulls win, we all lose.

Advanced solo Professor X was used instead of Spider-Woman due to unavailable expansion

GAME 1

First one was really bloody. Villains opened with Ronan the Accuser, followed by Phalanx, Queen Veranke (8 pwr) and Shapeshifters (8 pwr). Bunch of Bounty Hunter Gamora and Class Dismissed Professor X couldn't stop them from escaping the city. Several Twists led Skrulls to victory.

Defeated Villians and Mastermind: 2 points
Escaped Villians: -10 points
Lost Bystander: -4 points
Scheme Twists: -18 points
Skrulls won!, total: -30 points

GAME 2

New game, new strategy. Heroes started with double Element Guns. Shards were piling up, and apart from Dr. Minerva and Queen Veranke, no Villian could escape wrath of Guardians of the Galaxy. Legendary Outlaw and Deadliest Woman in the Universe added just more of them and monsters were pretty much under control. Godslayer Blade Gamora was just too much for The Supreme Intelligence of the Kree.

Defeated Villians and Mastermind: 48 points
Escaped Villians: -2 points
Lost Bystander: -4 points
Scheme Twists: -21 points
Guardians (a.k.a. good) won!, total: 21 points

Our first attempt at this one ended before we began - Ant was just starting to sort the cards and somehow ended up knocking the game box off the table. There were cards and dividers everywherecry By the time we'd sorted everything back in its correct place I'd lost the enthusiasm for playing.

1st game
2 players
Evil won

This was a super fast game, we lost just one Skrull at the start, then no Kree came out to even the scale, and we got hit by scheme twist after scheme twist.

2nd Game
2 players
Good won!

Player 1 (Ant)17 points
Player 2 (Kim)22 points

Things went much smoother this time, it was a fun combination.

Thanks for the challenge

GAME 3

One more as the setup for Mastermind and Scheme was already prepared. Recruiting started with Class Dismissed, Deadliest Woman and Element Guns. More Guns were added as soon as they were available. It seems the catch of Scheme was just controlling, which Villain escaped. Keeping the result tied, it was just a matter of time, when The Supreme Intelligence of the Kree would succumb.

Final deck:
6x Element Guns
2x Implanted Memory Chip
1x Sentient Starship
1x Godslayer Blade
4x Legendary Outlaw
1x Deadliest Woman (+2 KO'd)
3x Class Dismissed
1x Galactic Assassin
1x Mind Control
1x Telepathic Probe
2x Bounty Hunter (both KO'd)

Defeated Villians and Mastermind: 59 points
Escaped Villians: -5 points
Lost Bystander: 0 points
Scheme Twists: -24 points
Guardians (a.k.a. good) won!, total: 30 points

GAME 4

Another take on this challenge, this time Jean Grey joined team of heroes (instead of Professor X/Spider-Woman). It started with Legendary Outlaw, Deadliest Woman and soon after Element Guns. Single copy of Element Guns kept some pressure on Villains, but still three of them managed to escape. One more was let out of the city, to keep their score tied. In second part, powerful Jean Grey "rescuing Bystanders-drawing reinforcements" engine was built. Our squad managed to rescue all 41 Bystanders! And as a side job, they stopped The Kree-Skrull War and Supreme Intelligence of the Kree.

Final deck:
3x Element Guns
3x Implanted Memory Chip
1x Godslayer Blade
------------------------
4x Legendary Outlaw
1x Deadliest Woman
2x Galactic Assassin
5x Psychic Search
1x Read Your Thoughts
1x Mind Over Matter
1x Telekinetic Mastery
2x S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent

Defeated Villians and Mastermind: 100 points
Escaped Villians: -4 points
Lost Bystander: 0 points
Scheme Twists: -24 points
Guardians (a.k.a. good) won!, total: 72 points

Thanks for the challenge. Looking forward to the next one

Yeah, score was high, I hope I played it according to the rules. I believe that With manipulation of escaped villains you can play through whole deck as long as number of conquest cards doesn't exceed 3 twists? And with amazing Jean Grey abilities you can easily rescue all bystanders...

Correct. This scheme out of all of them is the most interesting in the fact that Villains are going to escape, there really is not way around it especially as solo, so the main strategy is management. Making sure either an even amount escapes or they go back and forth.

With shards, everything is easier. In a turn I managed to gain 11 shards: 2 from artifacts and 9 from 3xGamora.

5 twists came out: 2 for Skrulls and 1 for Kree. The rest were a draw.

I'm not sure if I did this right.

I played solo, but 2 handed.

Game 1: Good Wins!
Player 1: 3 points: 23 - 15(5 scheme twists) - 5 (escaping villians)
Player 2: 6 points: 26 - 15 - 5
Of the 5 twists it was 1-1 plus 3 Ties.

I may retry with Advanced Solo rules instead of 2 player

I don't think you have to subtract points when you're not playing solo.

Actually this is the only setup that does require you to subtract. For the secondary lose condition.

In this case I need to revise my stats:
Player 1: 23 - 15 - 5 = 3
Player 2: 28 - 15 - 5 = 8

But what is the secondary lose condition?

Being below 0. And you are fine.

Edited:

Wait a minute! That is the wrong one for that. Whoops. No there is no subtraction in this particular scheme. That is another one. My mistake. There is no subtraction in this one. Sorry.
