So, like many others my group has come to the conclusion of the imbalance of players abilities. So, I am trying a simple solve for them. Rather than trying to fix them one by one, just accept them to be ranked in order from best to worst.

My solve is to put them on separate cards that I am designing that at the beginning of the game, players bid on them.

1. All players start with 2 more gold.
2. Cards are valued from 1 gold to 3 gold depending on their ability.
3. At the start of the game, shuffle ability cards and place an equivalent set of cards to players.
4. Players then bid on the with the minimal cost being what is on the card.
5. Players can decide not to bid on having an ability to rather bolster their troop count.

Have you played like this a lot? Have you found it helpful? Curious what your experience has been.

I like the idea of bidding on characters. Once the cards are done, I'd be interested in the results as well.
