S&S GAMEPLAY - EPISODE II - FIGHTING STYLES!

In Sword & Sorcery, each character, whether Hero or Enemy, has his own fighting style, as indicated by one of the following runes:

• Dexterity. Based on agility and quick strikes.
• Faith. Based on might derived from the Gods.
• Magic. Based on mystic arcane energies.
• Strength. Based on brute force and physical attribute.

In addition to defining the fighting style, runes are used for several other purposes:

For the Heroes, the runes define which items can be used and equipped during quests.

For the Enemies, the fighting style may be used to determine their activation, to identify a preferred victim or to interact with other enemies under particular circumstances.

The 1 to 4 small diamonds around the rune identify the “Challenge Level” of the enemy. It allows enemies to be easily swapped with new ones from future S&S expansions. If the Rank, the Fighting Style, and the Challenge Level match, the enemy may be swapped. This feature grants a great replay value, helping players to customize their quests.

See you on next Saturday for S&S GAMEPLAY - EPISODE III.

Well, there's two of my biggest beefs with Galaxy Defenders straight-up rendered non-issues: no player elimination, and a simple system to swap in enemies for quests.

Thanks to the latter, there goes any likelihood that I'll be able to resist whatever extra enemies they might include with the Kickstarter come September, too. D'oh!

Anybody else feeling excited?
