Return where? Back to the pool? No. Once UFO's are placed, you either shoot them down with fighters or satellites, shuffle them to another continent with a skill, or they go to orbit when a continent is lost.

Whoa, seriously? Doesn't this make the game extremely difficult? On a round of bad die rolls on Interceptors and you can practically start again, because of a snowball effect.

Yes, if you can't (or can only just) keep up with the UFOs when things are going about average, a bad round is going to trigger a snowball into defeat.

On the other hand, you can usually stay ahead of the UFOs until late in the game, and if you can clear the skies once, that's enough to reset the snowball.
