So I just cracked open my copy for the first time and there was a bag with a bunch of empty plastic bags in it. What are those for?

Usually Plaid Hat sends extra baggies for the future expansions.

I'm reading a lot about y'all getting copies of the game. Is it from GenCon or is the game starting to hit the retail shelves in the US already?

I don't know if it's true for every copy, but I had exactly enough bags to bag the following:

- 6x bags to contain the 6 preconstructed decks
- 3x bags to bag the tokens (wounds, exhaustion, status + first player)
- 1x bag for all the dice (the one they came in)

Not my favorite way to store things, but it worked until I was able to get a proper box insert.

Mostly preorders straight from Plaid Hat, although I'm guessing the 700 or so who got it at GenCon are starting to chime in, too.

Got mine at Gen Con. Saved the bags and got 6 Ultra Pro Deck Boxes (like $1 each), one for each sleeved deck. They fit PERFECTLY into the box insert.

Plaid Hat includes lots of bags because Colby hates inserts. I love it, it's one of my favorite things about buying their games. I have a surplus of bags from PHG that I use in games from publishers who don't provide any!

I use my bags as follows:

- 6x bags for the preconstructed decks
- 1x bag for all of the Conjurations
- 1x bag for all of the Phoenixborns and the reference cards
- 1x bag for all of the dice
- 1x bag for all of the tokens

Different strokes for different folks though I'm glad they gave extras

I was using the bags differently.

I had:
-6x bags for the preconstructed decks
-1x bag for all of the tokens
-4x bags for the 4 different kinds of dice

Now that I am using a custom insert, the decks are no longer in bags.

When people realize how good the game is they often hyperventilate. Then they can breathe into one of the bags to keep from passing out.

My understanding was that those extra bags are for storing candy; to be eaten while playing Ashes.

OMG - Dead of Winter is one of the games that needs an insert most. Without it I think it would take 30 mins to setup.

This will get off topic quickly. However, I have dead of winter, no insert, and it takes maybe 10min to set up. I do have a tackle box for all the dice and tokens.

Inserts can be pricey, but the Broken Tokens are completely worth it in my opinion. Especially for those games that are a favorite. It makes set up a breeze and also adds that little bit of bling that makes you smile when you open the box.
