Just wondering if this expansion adds a few layers to enhance the game? It seemed a little light for our tastes but I did back Raiders. Debating getting this one as well.

Very light layers that "fix" a few low points.

It fixes 'mean' gameplay and allows players to play less aggressive. Or better; it adds the option to protect your own craftsmen or ships from attacks. The expansion was made to give the game a more 'euro' touch. We are three and we have all opted for the expansion. After a few plays we liked the game but houseruled a few things. That'll now be taken care of by the expansion.

What did you house rule or was that before the expansion? Does the game play well with two?

We house ruled before the expansion. See here: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1346291/second-play-fee... - in my first post is also a link to a previous thread, where we were talking about tweaks. The expansion seems to have incorporated some modified versions of the tweaks that were thought of in the forum.
