This is a series of session reports re the Dragonslayer quest from Book of Quests.
The idea was to present it in a narrative style to describe the story of the game rather than a rules heavy explanation. The choices given at the end are for fun only in the style of gamebooks of old. They represent only SOME of the choices a player will have in the realm and I couldn't possibly illustrate all the option available as the game is played.
Hopefully it will give those who are curious about the game an overview of how a game can pan out. However this is from BoQ's so not playing to achieve victory points so the play style is altered.
This is my first attempt at a "quest" in the realm.

DAY ONE
The approach to the realm is at the foot of some imposing cliffs skirting the border of the forest. You follow an old track at the base of the cliffs, to your right is thick dark forest from where you can hear slithering sounds. There is a strong stench of smoke, certainly not generated by any friendly dwellings.
You hide behind a moss covered rock as you sense impending danger. As you do so a Dragon drags itself out of the forest sniffing the air. Smoke is pouring out of its nostrils.
Further down the path from where you came there are sounds of some thing large and yet more deadly!
Your companion (a guide book that all realm travellers have) tells you that somewhere along the path there is a secret passage leading to the very top of the cliffs, which in turn will lead you to the Curst Valley where you may find succour.

DO YOU
Attempt to sneak past the Dragon to search for the passage?

Attack the Dragon?

Leave the Cliffs and head into the Evil Valley in hopes of finding a friendly face?

OR enter the Evil Valley cautiously in case the locals are Hostile?

To be continued.....

If you're strong enough to kill a tremendous armored monster, then now would be the best time to do so. You don't want to have to worry about him when you've failed your next hide roll.

Attack the Dragon!

OR If you aren't strong enough to kill it (why did you take this quest...?) then run for the nearest valley. You may be able to find some help there.

Your character doesn't actually have to be able to kill a T Dragon in order to play this Quest. I once saw an expert player play Dragon Slayer with the Witch King – who would seem to be completely wrong for this Quest – and he ended up winning that game with an amazing strategy that had the rest of us just staring in shock!
