Just a heads up that we're looking for 3 more teams for a BGG Fantasy Football league we've been running for years. We have a few teams not returning, so opportunity for a few people to join!

We do a live auction draft using Yahoo leagues, which will happen on Saturday, Sep 5, 9:00am CDT. At a minimum, you'll need to be online for the auction at that time (it usually takes about 2 hours). The auction is always a lot of fun, so it's great if everyone with a team is involved.

There hasn't been a ton of trading going on in the past, so the league doesn't require a ton of attention, but please also be ready to set your lineup every week, as it's always lame when someone wins due to the opponent leaving in players who are on a bye week.

So, overall, nothing crazy, just a fun, casual league! If you're interested, shoot me a geekmail and I'll send you the sign-up link.

In 2012 a friend of mine was talking about his fantasy football draft he did in a league that goes every year at his work. He was getting some ribbing from his co-workers about his questionable draft picks and he asked me if I thought he had really done that bad. I was skeptical myself so I didn't really give a solid answer. Seems he took Adrian Peterson coming off his ACL knee injury the year before in round 3 and Peyton Manning coming off his missed season for his neck injury and now with the Broncos in round 4. About 10 weeks later he tells me he's undefeated in his fantasy league so far and I go "After much thought in answer to your question I think you drafted well".

He finished the season undefeated.

I would actually offer to join Chad but I will be out of town the day of your draft. Just as well most likely. The best way for a player to have a season ending injury in September is for me to draft them on my fantasy team.

Actually give him my spot if it was available. I am not sure I'd be able to make the live draft.

Sorry to threadjack, but I'm also looking to fill one spot in a league. Details are such:

Runs on ESPN
12 Teams
$25 buy-in split between 1st and 2nd place
0.5 PPR
IDP
Auction Draft (date TBD)
FAAB
5 keepers each year, with salary based on previous year's draft + inflation. 3 year cap on keepers

Looking for a serious player that is willing to play for more than a single season. The league features a decent amount of trash-talking and moderately active trading scene. It the 6th(? or so) year of the league. Please GM me with interest.

Put me down on the waiting list. I just started playing fantasy football last year and really liked it.

If there are others besides me who are interested, we can start a second league instead.

FYI as I recall, Yahoo has a pretty nice system for setting your preferences ahead of time and letting it autopick for you.

Most websites have this, but it doesn't always do the best job even if you have your draft board set up perfectly. You still need to take into account which positions you've already drafted, player bye weeks, etc. It's always better to draft in person if you are able to.

Yeah, it really sucks for auction draft format.

Thanks for the invite. I didn't notice it was auction when I made the comment about auto-drafting. I have not done an auction before so I will have to study up. Sounds like fun.

It's pretty simple. Every team has $200 to spend on players. When your "turn" comes up in the draft, you simply nominate a player to put up for bids, and an auction is held for that player. So, the same team might draft 3 players in a row if they keep winning the auctions, or you may go 20 picks without winning an auction if you don't care about the players as much as other teams.

It's a lot of fun managing your money while trying to round out a team!

If the league isn't full, I'd like to play.

Are there prizes? I'd throw in a board game or three into the prize pool. Just a suggestion, but it makes it more competitive when you're playing for something. No matter though...I'll kick butt with or without prizes.

I just realized that I work Sept 5 and won't be able to be online for the draft. So actually I guess I'm out, unless a different date can be selected for the draft.

Disregard this post.

I'd like to get in on this if you still have a slot open. Not sure I want to get up before noon on a Saturday, but I'll give it a whirl.

Unfortunately, we're full up now, sorry! Sounds like you might have people interested in a 2nd league though, as I think there are a couple guys at least if you can round up some more.
