There is an appropriate verbal retort to the opponent playing this card.

Has anyone seen the trailer for Frank Miller's 300?

There's a line where one guy threatens to blot out the sun with arrows.

The other guy replies "Then we will fight in the shade".

That is a good retort. I believe the original line was supposed to be, "Then we will fight in the shade with our pink parasols", but it was determined that this lacked the punch of the shorter version...

"Darken the sky" always reminds me of the movie "Hero".

And wouldn't that be something? A BattleLore expansion set in an alternate Cathay!

Actually the 'Good, I prefer fighting in the shade' line was originally said by a Greek General - can't recall which one (it will hit me later I'm sure), during the war against the invading Persians at the Pass of Thermopoly (spelled wrong) - also known as the Gates of Fire. Just an FYI. I don't remember those lines in the movie "Hero," did they actually use them? I would think it rather strange considering the different setting (though those scenes with the sheets of arrows - heheh, wicked, those lines would be appropriate).

...which just happens to be the setting for Frank Miller's 300...

According to Herodotus, Dienekes said this line.
