Given the recent, successful launch of the pre-orders of the War of the Ring Anniversary Release, we at Ares are now wondering if there is an interest on a similar limited edition (likely, not due for release until late in 2016) of Battle of Five Armies, with fully painted figures, of course.

Based on a cost comparison with War of the Ring, the cost should be significantly less than the Anniversary Release, but of course higher than the regular BoFA (most likely, in the $ 200 to $ 300 range).

Hence, here's a poll, your vote (whether you're interested or not) is welcome!
Poll
Are you interested in a limited edition, with painted figures, of Battle of Five Armies.
Yes, definitely.
Maybe, if the cost is reasonable.
Maybe, if I am happy about the quality of the War of the Ring Anniversary Release.
Definitely not.

The exact contents (apart from the painted minis of course) are still to be defined.... so you are welcome to write down your wishes, too!

Actual rings instead of ring tokens. Kind of like the ring in Lord of the Rings Risk.

Firstly, B5A is a beautiful game and deserve this kind of attention. I would order this game if:
1. I could see the rule book in advance, i.e., changes that are made to
the first edition rules.
2. Examples of the painted miniatures
3. Images of the new board with any changes in size, boarders, colors, etc.

I am intrigued, and would very much like to read more about any future developments. Finally, thank you for bringing this to the public so early via this forum cool

A new mini for the goblins with simpler weapons than crossbows and a nimbler look more suited for scrambling over mountains.

No, screw that, I want the actual Ring. The one that turns me invisible. Yeah, that one. Can we get Suaron on board?

The one that if I wear it too much I turn into a wraith and he controls my undying spirit....

Wait.....

OK, new idea. Still get Sauron on board for a new set of Rings. You know:

"Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky...

Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone....

Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die...

Two thousand for the nut-job Bo5A CE-lovers to own...."

In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie...

Here's a long shot. A bonus War of the Ring tie-in scenario (if timeline allows for sufficient playtesting):

If Bolg had prevailed: Start WotR with Dale a Fortification rather than a City and Erebor as a Shadow Stronghold. Woodland Realm's starting garrison might need a boost. Two Event cards would need replacing (King Brand's Men and Dain Ironfoot's Bodyguard); two others could be modified by the scenario rules to limit their scope (There And Back Again, Book of Mazarbul). This scenario would put more military pressure on the northeastern part of the board, but also eliminate three out of five VPs that Shadow can normally claim there.

I'm interested. I'd like to see the WotR set I ordered first and I've started painting my Bo5A miniatures (first minis I've ever really painted). So if I ever finish those and they turn out alright that could influence my decision.

I would love to see rules for 2v2 or 2v1 variant (since it might be hard to split up the shadow army)

An expansion would nice, but I understand that this is not what this thread is about.

I find the damage tokens a little fiddly - was thinking that coloured dice (red and blue) could be used to tag along with each army?

Draw string bag for the tiles would be cool.

Also, forgive me if I am mistaking this game with another as I have only convinced the girlfriend to bust this out once, but I remember us having a bit of trouble distinguishing bowmen and elves, or something to that extent. If the pieces where painted though, that would probably help tremendously.

I stand by any decision you people make for sure though!

I would say maybe, depending on the extra contents of the game. The painted mini's is nice, but I (as many said) like expansions and other things over painted mini's.

Great suggestions from all. I'd love to see the following:

Alternative heroes (different versions for existing ones)
Maneuver cards for heroes to use in battles that they partake in
String bag
Painted minis
Bigger cards
Dedicated damage tokens for strongholds
Minis for settlements
Bigger map
Minis instead of leadership tokens
