I've been piggybacking off the excellent CardgameDB faction reviews, summarising their opinions on each card and then talking about what I agree/disagree with and what it means for the faction as a whole.

EDIT: I've now completed all 8 factions. You can find links to them all here:

Re: [Blog] Faction Review (Reviews) - Stark, Lannister & Night's Watch
I have a funny feeling the meta is underrating Stark. It feels similar to when the meta in Netrunner underestimated Jinteki and then got their clocks cleaned at GenCon and Worlds by.....Jinteki.

I need the game in hand to really tinker with it but I suspect there is a stronger Stark build than they currently see.

Jinteki won the GenCon when the game just got released and no one really knew how to play. Even then, out of the core set they were the weakest faction and would remain so for more than a year and a half, when it's big box got released, and several overpowered cards catapulted them to one of the strongest decks - and it's only then that they won Worlds, 2 years later.

I'm not saying Starks aren't going to win the Worlds in 2 years, I'm saying (from a perspective of someone who didn't play 1.0, and had played a couple dozen 2.0 games) they are among the weakest in the core set because everyone has too many duplicates to soak their massive military claim play, and the Direwolf synergy feels like it needs more cards to start working well.

On your Baratheon page you list Dragonstone Loyalists. Should that be Dragonstone Faithful?

Um, no, Jinteki was the weakest corp faction for a long time in the early Netrunner sets, up until it got Caprice and other stuff.
Also, the second Gencon where the winner had a Jinteki deck, he repeatedly crushed his opponent as runner and then was in a position in corp games where he needed liek 2 points to win the match, and thus easily did so. Any corp deck wouldve won those games.

Re: [Blog] Faction Review (Reviews) - Stark, Lannister & Night's Watch
These are great, I'm going to spend some time going through them.

Regarding the meta underestimating Stark. Maybe they are, but I'm having trouble doing well as stark. They just don't have as many power cards as most of the other factions. Their card draw is one of the weakest, they are bad an intrigue challenges. They just seem to me like a bad version of Greyjoy.

Re: [Blog] Faction Review (Reviews) - Stark, Lannister & Night's Watch
The full set are now done, and I've done some work to compare the cards and factions between houses, ranking and rating everything.

The links to the eight faction reviews, and all the analysis, can be found here:
http://oldgodsandthenew.blogspot.com/2015/09/core-set-card-p...

I've then added a bit of a personal spin to the rankings here:

Re: Stark. I have a Stark aggro deck that banners Greyjoy in and arguably that makes 'better Greyjoy', it's certainly more aggressive and focused as removal events like Winter is Coming replace utility removal/events like Risen from the Sea or We Do Not Sow. I like Grey Wind a lot as well for eating claim soak dudes so your attacks bite deeper.

It wasn't in that original list I published, but is now. The plots changed around a little.
