Révised box is V1.

Get one of the new starter sets and as much FFG units as you can.

You Will also need the new card packs.

Hope THIS helps.

Babylon is V2.

There is a card pack for each nation. So 3.

The new starters have the latest rules.

FFG items and the majority of boxes you can buy come with V1 large cards. As has been said, you can buy the boxes of v2 cards and just replace the large cards.

Lot of units are currently unavailable for love nor money - we're waiting for Dust Studio to manufacture more!

i think you forgot , THEY are up to version THREE now

so the NEW rules are mostly available in that quickstart guide , and i wouldnt be surprised if this also means slightly altered NEW stats , just so DG can force players to buy ANOTHER set of cards shake

Yeah... V3 is out in starter form.

I wouldn't buy the v2 rulebook that will be dropped soon along with card packs that may or may not end up being replaced in a few months.

If you're starting, i would suggest to buy FFG-only boxes, play v1, forget v2 which never really started anyway and wait for the full v3... or stick to v1.

Revised Core is Version 1, as is all FFG product.
The new hardbound Rulebook is Version 2, as are Operation Babylon and the sets produced by Battlefront.
There are three Army Faction Card sets with Version 2 cards for all models (including the original FFG stuff).
The new dice sets are better for Version 2 as they are smaller and therefore you can roll more together.
The brand new Dust Studio stuff has a few Version 2 rule changes.

I would keep an eye on ebay, cheap stuff shows up all the time.

Dust is a great game, and a fantastic universe. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

not if you ONLY get the FFG boxes . anything done by battle front is version 2 .......... though if you DO get a version 2 unit , there are plenty of people here familiar enough with the game that they can re-stat it for you .

The answer to that question is: we don't know yet, but it seems unlikely.
The cards were made by Battlefront and Dust is no longer with them. You definitely don't need them for v1 though.

V3 *might* use the same cards, use some new ones with the same stats, or some new ones entirely that will not be compatible.

But the V3 ruleset is out in starter form, meaning the full ruleset and the answer to the cards question might not be far ahead.

Also, ask around to see what players in your area are playing.

I bought both Fantasy Flight Games (FFG) and Battlefront (BF) version of Dust. I have both sets of cards so that I can play with anyone in my area.

The nice thing about all of this is that the miniatures are always the same, the stat cards are the only things that change.

I have a few friends that got into the game around the Babylon Kickstarter campaign, so I play version 2 with them, and if there are any of the older guys around <looks at KG and Martin Larouche> then I get my version 1 cards out

Don't hesitate buying either version 1 or 2 units as people on here can always help you out with images of cards from whichever version you end up playing.

As for a cheap place to buy miniatures online, I usually go with Miniature Market. They've always been really good to me, and their customer service is excellent (from personal experience).

Hope that helps

the new starters are COMPLETELY compatible with the V2 stuff.

I have anew Merc starter ...it works 100% with my V2 stuff.

100%

don't listen to K.G. he is infamous for slamming V2 and trying to resurrect V1.

if you have any more questions please join the DUST tactics-official facebook page. Paolo responds to people's questions all the time.

the so-called V3 is many months away and so far looks like very minor changes to V3.

also I don't think Version one of Tactics is gridless...but I may be wrong.

Edited: meant to say "gridless" not "Grid only"

You have to be careful in wording, as there is now new-new starters.

The first "new" starters were for the SSU, Axis and allies and were not compatible with V2. They came out between V1 and V2 and are not compatible with either one.

The new-new starters are supposed to be for V3. There are no rules, nor any references to those 2 new factions in V2.

V1 is grid-only.

Dust rulesets that came out in the last 5 years:
- V1
- V1 Revised
- V1.5 (new starters)
- V2
- V2: BattleField [gridless]
- V3
- Warfare [gridless]

I clarified in the very next sentence
"I have a new Merc starter ...it works 100% with my V2 stuff."

mercs are described in pretty great detail in Operation:Babylon...a V2 supplement

Blutkruez are a part of the Axis. no special rules for playing them. it's just fluff...they are the super-science part of the Axis.

once again they are fully playable with all the V2 stuff.
