Got matched with someone and he had some tricky likes and wanted to ask the crowed here if they had any ideas I maybe not thinking about.

So it is a Adult brother and his younger brother (older teenager)

Big Brother likes PvP, games like Munchkin and Risk, but has played a lot of game likes Settlers and Arkham horror.

Younger brother likes Monopoly.

They wants to expand there horizons outside of "Walmart games"

My first idea was King of New York. Since it has a PvP aspect and is pretty light hearted.

After that I'm just blanking on ideas. I need a transition game that has some nice PvP elements to it, and possibly a resource aspect like monopoly.

Lords of Waterdeep was another idea, but not a lot of PvP to it.

Cutthroat Caverns, Summoner Wars, Star Realms, Battle Line? KoT might work too depending on ages. This is a tough one.

Seems you're not too fussed with price range. But if you want something cheap (or something as a familiar bonus) try Monopoly Deal Card Game for them.

I'm ok going over the $20 price range into the $30-40 range.

Finding one in the right price range is a little tough, but I'd consider some sort of dungeon crawl. Most include some sort of resource management a la Monopoly, and even if they're not directly pvp the combat might get some of that dice rolling thrill from risk.

Drakon could fit the bill, Dungeon!, on the pricier end something like Mice and Mystics or the DnD Adventure System games.

Lords of Vegas?

It has the property collection/building aspect of Monopoly, and conflict in the form of vying for control of the casinos.

In my experience, it's always gone over well with newer gamers.

Lord of Vegas is a great idea. Little pricey but does fit a lot of the criteria.

+1

even disregarding the Monopoly branding (i frequently do) its a really cutthroat PVP card game

I think Star Realms would be a solid choice.
Relatively simple game, but introduces a lot of more gamer-y elements and has a lot to explore within the game itself.
