I am working on a 3'x3' 4 player playmat for boss monster and wanted to crowd source ideas from the community. I'll post the finished file so anyone can have it printed when I'm done.
Right now I have a pixelated grey brick background, boss monster logos in each of the corners and each side is one of the four dungeon types. I'm going to put background card images in the center to represent where the different deck types go.

I was wondering if I should put a single discard pile or two discard piles, one for rooms and one for spells? I normally play with two but I was wondering what others thought.

Should each dungeon have specific spots for wounds, souls, and tool cards?

I thought about putting a level-up icon at the bottom of the boss card placement that would be covered up and when you level up you slide the card up a little to expose this and mark that you had leveled up.

I need ideas for a background of town. Also, I'm not the best artist, I'm just really good at tweaking what others make so I have a lot of boss monster art I've collected online. If anyone has any more PM me, I would love to have it for this project.

I'll post a pic of what I have so far, later today after I get home from work.

Having a town mat and a players mat would be best

Town mat with 2 discard piles for rooms and spells.

Player mat having an area for the level up would be great as would an area for the defeated card (VP starts) and one for wounds.

Town mat with spots for tools as well.

I originally thought this too, but I can't seem to find a mat printer that has a good size available. I calculated up that you would need at least a 24" wide playing area and the mats that I'm seeing are 24"x14". The 14" inches is unnecessarily large, half that would be more preferable IMO

Another update if anyone is interested. All that is left is decorating the middle in some way... Almost done.

Found a place that sells 32"x8.5" mats. Those could work as individual player mats. Not sure if 32" is too wide though...

Yeah, I'm really happy with inked, the mats I have from them are extremely high quality. The other site is artscow, under the bar mat section they have some odd sizes. I have some mousepads from them and I can tell you that inked gaming does a better gaming mat.
