I'm on my 5th foamxcore and I like it but I really want to go in a different direction with organizing my pieces.

I was at Micheal's the other day, working on another project and saw a cheap wooden hollowed out book. Now it was too small to place any big games but that made me think... Has it been done before? I am thinking about at least trying to do it. If it turns out sweet I'll slowly turn all my games into magically differently stained wooden books...

Part of my Dune is in a book, but one of those paper-mache ones.

Hmm, Maybe I should buy one and take it apart so I can spark my imagination.

It's actually pretty easy to make a book vault. All you need is a knife, a brush, and some white glue (straight edge also recommended) to turn any book into a box.

Visit your local used book store and whether you're playing Dune, Robinson Crusoe, or Cthulhu anything, it should be pretty easy to match up games with themes.

I picked up a cardboard book box at the dollar store & covered it for the PnP game Notre Dame Express. It was large enough for a decent sized game. I also picked up the game Hp Trivia Game at the thrift store expressly to use the book box for a game but haven't used it yet. It's really big, about twice the size of the dollar store one.

if you can get Wicked Witches Way cheap enough - it has a cool book/grimoire.

Yeah I'm a pro at making book vaults, used put mix tapes in the for ladies when I was in college, but I'm not looking for a book vault to put games in because most games won't fit into a box, especially boards. I was thinking about my first being Ticket To Ride.

I want to make a book vault out of wood. Large enough to contain boards and pieces. I know that T2R will need 2 "books" because I have 5 maps.

ha I'm actually working on trying to use the cardboard book boxes to do just that

I think their coming out with better ones, I saw different ones at the store including this in a larger size and even bigger ones that were fancily decorated.

This is something that I would base my design off of,
https://www.michaels.com/artminds-wooden-book-box/10308287.h...

The problem is that I want it to be able to hold the actual boards so the "books" that I will create will be kind of huge!

You could always use the books to hold the pieces and hang the boards on the wall. (See this thread for a couple framed board examples.)

I have a few "bookshelf edition" games, and they are gorgeous boxes.

Dread Pirate

and Valley of the Pharaohs

They have very strong magnets holding the books closed. I do store them vertically and have never had a problem. Granted, they're wedged pretty well in between other games, but still.
