There's no prohibition, but it also isn't permitted in the section on ground combat. The original rulebook says that you may screen ships if you have "more combat-capable ships", rather than units. Of course whether or not that's intentional or simply because in the base game unit and ship are basically synonyms is up for debate.

I'd argue if the screening was meant to apply to ground troops, Close Encounters would have updated the screening wording and would have mentioned it in the combat section. As it stands, screening only applies to ships.

Kicked this around with Jim today over email with the rest of the playtest group. Two points were agreed upon.

1. You can screen ground units with other ground units during ground combat.

2. Screened Grav Armor does not count when determining how many units get a support bonus. If you want the bonus the unit doing the supporting can get shot at.
