Note - I also posted this on Consim.

Area control - When is area control checked and modified if necessary?

Defender fire during sieges – Do all defender units fire first (before any attacker units)?

Units in a fortress – When do units enter a friendly fortress? Are units automatically considered to be inside a friendly fortress within the limits of the fortress strength? Can a friendly unit in a friendly fortress hex decide not to enter a the fortress when an enemy unit enters the hex (thereby stopping enemy movement through the hex and engaging in non-siege combat outside the fortress)?

Pursuit by defender – Can a defender that defeats an attacker after the 3rd (last) round of combat conduct pursuit? If so, are all of the retreating attacker units considered to be the last to retreat (and can be fired upon by pursuit unit)?

Recall – Is there any way to voluntarily recall units in excess of force limits?

Guerrilla units in a siege – Can guerrilla units that are part of the besiegers force take any of the losses incurred during fortress assault?

Fortress ports under siege and sea movement – Can sea movement be used to move friendly units into the hex of a friendly fortress port that is besieged? Do the units so moving enter the hex and engage in combat with the besiegers during that operations step? Or do the units so moving join the besieged units inside the fortress (subject to fortress limits)? If regular units cannot use sea movement to enter the besieged hex as above can an expeditionary force unit conduct an amphibious assault on the hex?

When are event cards noted on the turn track added to the deck – before that turn’s draw or after?

Hi Michael,

I just got off the phone with Mark Kramer the developer of Wellington's War to discuss the more subtle points of some of your questions. He will post a comprehensive reply to your questions. Please check there for answers. Hope this helps and that you enjoy the game.

Regards,

Hans

Michael,

Thank you for posting the link to Mark Kramer's reply. Mark was an excellent developer for the several years of this project, and as such is perhaps the most knowledgeable person regarding this game (certainly more so than the "absentee" designer).

I only want to add a comment regarding Amphibious assault: 10.7 refers only to using Sea Movement to enter hex containing an enemy-controlled port. Extending this to include friendly (fortress) ports under siege, while not specified in the rules is allowed and within the design intent. An historical example would be the operations of Graham's expeditionary force besieged Cadiz in 1811.

Anyways enjoy the game and please submit any constructive feedback.

Regards,

Hans

Hi Daniel,

Not a bad idea. I'll review what we have with Mark Kramer the developer and post them.
