Point of order! I know what P500 is but I do 0 P500s per year.

Otherwise, nice.

Point of Order! Surely it's impossible for someone to know what P500 is and P500 0 per year....

I feel kind of sad about either the availability of wargames in local game shops or the apparent lack of support for the FLGS...

I think it is a sign of the times, something retailers across all sectors are having to contend with I unfortunately.

P500 discounts are not cost effective for Europeans once postage and import duty/VAT are taken into consideration.

It's not so much the 'availability of wargames in local games shops' but there are no local games shops.

And +1 to knowing what P500 is but not using it due to cost - wait for online retail.

The poll did not come with a scoring table at the end so we could measure our "true grogginess" - color me disappointed! If it did, I'd suggest that the more of the top ten BGG wargames one has played, the lower their grog score would be! Everyone knows that real grogs mostly play musty copies of SPI, AH, and GDW games printed no later than 1985! devil

Very clever trick question there. Now we have to identify the (so far) 70 users who checked "Twilight Struggle" and hound them off the forum.

Well.

1.0 Almost no local stores carry them anymore
Only 1 store in town carries them now really (out of some 6-8 or so game stores in town). And, that one has reduced considerably how many they carry.

1.4 Wargames ARE min/maxers
Online is cheaper.
And, usually we are minimizing our wallet spend.
Although on occasion we have been known to maximize our impatience. :-)

Leo beat me to it. I've played 2 of those, and only kept one of them.

And yeah, I'd support my FLGS if there was such a thing.

I have a FLGS, and they carry wargames on occasion-- they had 5 copies of Ogre DE, some D-Day Dice has been around for a year or 2 now, and they have about 3-5 GMT titles plus some Heroes of Normandie in stock at any given moment.

They will do special orders, but the thing is, it TAKES TOO FREAKIN' LONG! Enemy Coast Ahead took about month and a half. I asked for Churchill the day it came out and nada. I would give them move business if they were more responsive.

+1 to the guy who stated we need a way to score this. If we cannot quantify it, who needs it?

Another +1 for "Knowing what P500 is, but ordering less than 1 a year".

It saddens me to see (currently) more people voted "solo" to "Who do you play most of your wargames with?" than "Gaming Buddy" and "Gaming Group" combined. I never solo. When I could, I just play PC games. But regardless, I feel blessed having a few (semi-)regular wargame buddies for FtF play and a regular (2x / year) wargame group.

I see I am not alone in my suspicion of the top ten. I answered the question, reviewed my responses, then thought, hey, wait a minute...

In the interest of full disclosure, I own 4 of them, have played 3.

What kind of Grognard plays current wargames?
Where is ASL? Where is Panzerblitz? Russian Campaign? Drang nach Osten?

Why would you P500 anything when you already have the greatest games in history on your shelf?

Just remember to put your hand over that wooden bowl when you roll. Jumpers don't count, and must be rerolled.
