Geek gold appreciated to 7.57 per US dollar in December. For the last five months the average rate per dollar has been:
Aug 2006: 7.25 Sep 2006: 8.05 Oct 2006: 6.98 Nov 2006: 8.65 Dec 2006: 7.57
(This is the weighted average of all geekgold auctions for cash for that month.)
There was a very large number of transactions in December; 14 in all for a total of $249. I've noticed that sometimes large and small transactions do not get as good a rate as medium-sized ones. I suppose the small auctions have relatively high transaction costs and the large ones have relatively higher risk.
Another notable event this past month was Ninjabob's "how low can it go?" auction of Nacht Der Magier for geekgold. Ninjabob ran a series of quick auctions setting the minimum price initially at 1000 gg and lowering it in 100gg increments in subseqent auctions. After still getting no takers at 400 gg, he apparently gave up.
