Black Pirate can be tough for younger players as it is hard for them to adequately control the direction of the bellows while they squeeze. I made a simple aid for our 4 1/2 year old which allows us to compete on more even footing and makes the game much more enjoyable for him.

I used a piece of wood from a clementine crate and cut a 3 inch by 4 inch rectangle. Any thin piece of wood would work. After a little sanding, I held the bellows to the wood with two rubber bands. Adjust the rubber bands so the nozzle is pointed rather low. And that's it!

The wood acts as a platform, securing the bellows, so that our grandchild need only worry about how hard to push down. Now, the game works well for him and we all have been enjoying it.

I have uploaded an image of the arrangement.

Wishing you good winds...
