I'm not clear on the rule in the manual about being found by two different NPC ships. They Both move into a sea zone they aren't at war and they both are hunting the same captain. They both succeed they're scouting roll. Does that found captain then fight them simultaneously or one at a time?

The NPCs move, scout and fight as necessary during movement, with each NPC completing their actions in turn before the next begins. In your scenario, the first NPC moves, scouts and fights your captain. Once that's complete (and assuming you survived the first battle), the second NPC moves, scouts and fights your captain. No combat in this game ever involves more than 2 ships.

In a situation where two or more NPC ships can scout for a player, the player gets to choose the order that they attack is determined randomly.

Not according to the rule on page 13:

If multiple hostile NPCs in the same Sea-Zone
find the same player, then determine the order in
which the battles take place randomly (by shuffling
the NPC Event Cards in question, and drawing
them in random order).

So you do all the needed scouting rolls and then you determine the order of any attacks randomly.

You're right - I misread that part somehow.

It's a situation that doesn't come up very often unless you're really unlucky or made some big mistakes along the way, so it's an easy rule to miss.
