The El Alamein Kickstarter is LIVE and rocking'!

We are on our way to 50K on day one with only a handful of the top tier pledge levels left! Run to the front lines of the El Alamein Kickstarter Campaign and join the action!

The campaign will be open until Tuesday, October 20th at 12 PM EST. El Alamein is a deck building card game for 2-5 players set in a fictional World War 2 Universe and is an extension to Barbarossa (Anime Card Game From Japan) published earlier this year.

The El Alamein Kickstarter Campaign will focus on commissioning new card art by the incredible artists of El Alamein and Barbarossa. With the help of backers, for every stretch goal reached during the 34 day campaign, Kamikaze Games will commission new art and produce even more amazing rewards and add-ons.

A little more about El Alamein....

El Alamein takes the established rules of Barbarossa and expands them to include new game mechanics such as the British Counterattack; Right after taking a city when you think it’s safe to rest, beware! The British may launch a counterattack against you!

If you are unfamiliar with Barbarossa or El Alamein, El Alamein is a deck building card game for 2-5 players (loosely) based on the battles of the German Afrika Korps during World War II. While it is an extension of the game Barbarossa and picks up where Barbarossa left off, El Alamein is a stand alone game. Each player takes on the role of one of General Rommel's subordinates and will start with very basic cards representing the main forces you command. During the game, players will add reinforcements to their initial 8-card decks, fight battles, and attempt to complete military objectives such as defeating enemies and capturing cities.

Will likely back this if my support is needed. The promos aren't too much, but I would like more unique art.

Are the 6(?) promo cards that were done for the Japanese version going to be made available for this version - as stretch goals perhaps? Or is that too much of a spoiler

A Heavy Tank Battalion slot just opened up as someone dropped down a tier.

As to the promo cards, it looks like the plan is to make them available as stretch goals. It looks like there were eight promos in the Japanese version and two of them are available right off the bat (Airfield and Das Boat -- I think it was called U-Boat Commander in the Japanese version). IIRC, some of the promos used the same art as other cards, so I believe they plan to commission new art for some (or all) of those promos.

FYI, the first stretch goals all relate to new art for the City cards. The game has nine cities, but the original version had only two pieces of art for all of those cities. Each city will have its own, unique art now (assuming we get another ~$5,000 in 31 days ). The first six of the seven new pieces of art are already unlocked just over a day into the campaign.

That's my debate at the moment. The playmat & postcards are nice...but I'm not sure yet they're nice enough to go the extra $25 when the only bit I really want from that tier is the Das Boat promo. I suspect they may sell a lot more playmats the way they've done it

I'd be interested in a supporter level that included a copy of Barbarossa.

You can get that as an Add-on.
Just pledge for the total amount of the El Alamein level you want & the Barbarossa.
At the end of the campaign they'll send out a Pledge Manager & you specify what you want for your money then

We plan on releasing as many promos as we can dependent on how many stretch goals we hit. I don't think its too much of a spoiler to tell you that We announced a few of the next stretch goals yesterday, 2 of which are the other promos. Some of the promos will even have new art!!

If 6 is right then up to 150k might be that limit. 80k and 90k are promo numbers 3 & 4 of the 6. Which probably means that the other 2 are in the 5 spots to 150k. With the other 3 being new art for 3 of the 4 Italian infantry cards? Which I think are the only cards left with the same art, but different card numbers. Although they are functionally identical, so maybe they won't get new art anyway.

For anyone who wants Barbarossa added to the rewards for El Alamein, Barbarossa is available now. Why would you want to wait a year to get a copy?

The add on for Barbarossa includes all the promo cards (other than the cosplay art ones which I kind of liked). Is it worth the full price when the game is discounted on stores...I don't think so, but eh. Also who says the Barbarossa add on wont be shipped right away once the Kickstarter gets it funds.

A whole new tier opened so a total of 400 Heavy Tank Battalion slots are being sold. Right now there are openings in each so you can choose which one you like better.

> No, the add-on includes only the promo cards that are listed. They are the same as the promo cards that come with the game now if you order it from the Kamikaze Games (which I did a few weeks ago).

I see that I was mistaken. The kickstarter add-ons include two cards that are not provided with the copy currently shipping, viz, Lil Fuhrer and Lil Rundstedt.
