Axis Summer 40'

The Germans attacks the hex next to the Maginot line and exploits down to Lyon isolating units in Southern France, while refraining from taking Paris in Summer.

An airborne drop onto Great Yarmouth also took place. An attempt at Sealion?

The Italians captured Tunisa,

All is quiet is Asia, with the usual attritions, but the Japanese redeploys units from Manchuria to plug the Japanese defensive line in Manchuria.

Allies Summer 40'

The British redeploys its Air Force into the Isles to protect a possible long battle up the coast of the UK. A fort is also built in Harwich with heavy defenses. The French also builds a 1-3 unit denying the conquest of algeria from the Italians.

A 1-1 attack against Japanese forces in North China was repulsed. Thankfully. The Japanese is hard pressed to try to contain this communist incursions.

The end of Summer 40' position is as shown below. It is again uncertain what the Axis are doing... perhaps a more conservative play would have been better.. But what's the fun in that....

In a spoiling attack, the French Air Force jumped on four stray German air units and shot down three factors at a loss of one. This is probably the last feat that the French forces would execute before Paris falls to the German hordes in the fall.

It'll be interesting to see how the Axis siege of Britain pans out. Because of the early Winter 1939 Axis offensive in the Low Countries, the U.S. has mobilized two turns early in Europe (with only a 1/6 chance of this happening), with the second mobilization happening a turn earlier than normal in Fall 1940. Persistent Axis offensives and Axis units in Britain will ensure that U.S.-Axis tensions continue to rise quickly, so the window for the Axis to force a British surrender (if that is indeed the plan) is quickly closing.

In the Pacific, the Western Allies have adopted a strong forward defence in the Asia and the Pacific fronts in an attempt to blunt the opening Japanese offensive when it comes. This is a huge risk involved since any gap in the WA defence could leave key areas open for Japanese incursions, though the WA have also been emboldened by the earlier-than-anticipated U.S. involvement in the war and are hence willing to run the gauntlet.

Keep them coming cos it helps sustain my interest in this system. Just getting in to the Barbarossa campaign, solo. The rules are a bitch for learning but that index and a rough idea of how the games are played from A3R is helping.
