I'm still of the mind that Q may be the greatest nemesis.... like out of everything I've read and watched. But as far as your poll I may have checked more than one, oops. though I didn't check guinan, that character had so much more potential.

Currently watching it thru for the first time... almost done with S3.

In the end, the show would be nothing without Captain Picard.

Data is in many of the best scenes, and many of the most cringe-inducing.

Guinan is easily my favorite minor character - damn Whoopie was gorgeous - and her limited appearances probably contribute to that.

Loved Tasha. As bland as LaForge, but easier on the eyes. (We used to have a cat named Yanr - pronounced "Yar" - but after a different film character "Yan'er".)

Dr. Pulaski was great. Gave the show more of an old-fashioned feel to it, which I liked. Dr. Crusher is ridiculous.

The Q episodes are among my least favorite.

I always suspected I was in the minority on this, but now it's confirmed.

I guess part of the fun of SF for me is to see plausible crazy stuff happen while within the plausible restraints of the real universe. Q was not remotely plausible, so the crazy stuff was no fun.

I know there was plenty of other "anything goes" impossible stuff (the holodeck and time travel among them), but with Q there isn't ever even lip service to plausibility.

Maybe the allure is seeing Picard getting his comeuppance?

I just liked him because he was hilarious.

If he wasn't funny, then I'd agree with you.

O'Brien was a TNG character. A minor character on that series, but that's where where we first saw him. He was one of the credited characters on DS9 later on.

Not as surprised as I am at anyone liking Tasha Yar. I'm also not a fan of Denise Crosby as a person.

I think I like Q more than the episodes he was in, but there are two Q episodes that rank among my personal favorites: "Deja Q" (he loses his powers) and "Tapestry" (a.k.a., the "It's a Wonderful Life" episode).

And the technobabble deus ex machina endings are bad enough without Q rubbing your nose in it.

Favorite character? The turbolift doors with their self-satistified shush.

Since you're an awesome Geek, I gotta ask:

What's so great about Tasha?

Picard.
The rest of the choices listed (and I do mean every last painful one of them) were in dire need of a transporter malfunction.
Yep. Not a fan in the slightest. But Picard was awesome.

Riker's beard!

The series was crap before it passed the audition, & then went from strength to strength.

Reg Barclay was also usually good value for some geek stereotyping!
