I own and love Nations. I am very excited about the upcoming expansion for it as well. Patchistroy really looks interesting to me but am I buying redundancy if I get this game? Are they significantly different enough to warrant both?

Thanks for your support input.

To your question: yes you should.

The two games are much different than each other and play much differently. Both are excellent, tho. It's like having a favorite type of food and just cooking it different ways.

This is like saying:

"I love pasta. Whenever I eat Italian, I eat pasta. Should I still try Tiramisu, even if I already love and most of the time eat Italian?"

The same theme not the same game makes...

Edit:
Okay, the example is quite weak, with a main course and a dessert. I just couldn't make it work with anything that seemed too close to pasta or was too unknown...
...I hope, however, you catch my drift...

I played both games and also liked both. They are different from each other. I think it's okay to have both. Still, for my taste, Patchistory beats the crap out of Nations...

I have to totally disagree. Everyone in our game group really enjoys Nations and we played Patchistory and all 4 of us found it to be dull and very slow.

Nations wins this battle hands down.

I'd really prefer not to play either with 4p. Patchistory with 3p is excellent, but one person should really know what they're doing to keep things moving along.

Hmm... you've played Nations 10+ times. Of course a new game is going to be comparatively slow.

But mind explaining what you found dull?

I own and like Nations, Through the Ages, Patchistory and The Golden Ages. I really like civ games and this one is different enough from the others to have a place in my collection.
