As a non Texan, it would be great to know the local food options, delivery places, etc. would be awesome to see a list here and a table with takeout/ delivery menus at the con.

Constant hotel food is getting old.

Or if you make local friends at the con, you can experience places like Taco Cabana, Babe's, Hard 8, and Fogos.

There are a lot of restaurants within a short drive - Yelp on your smartphone or computer will find you plenty. There are no non-hotel restaurants in walking distance. If you will not have a vehicle, there is a shuttle from the hotel, although I'm not sure if it will be free this year or not.

I believe it is. If you look under the Ultimate Geek Sponsors post, I'm almost 100% sure Rio Grande is sponsoring it again this year, which is awesome.

Nope, not even the best fried chicken in the area.

On the other hand, their *smoked* chicken...

Babe's has been on our rotation for 7 or 8 years now...

There is a Torchy's Tacos in Southlake now which I would highly recommend to anyone that hasn't been to one before. It's not any farther from the hotel as Hard Eight BBQ.

If you want good Texas food, check out The Ranch at Los Colinas. All of their dinner ingredients are from Texas farms and ranches, and all their beers and wines are from Texas breweries and wineries.

There is plenty of good beer made in Texas but there is absolutely no Texas wine worth drinking.

I've tried an awful (and I mean awful) lot of them. Every time someone hands me a Texas wine and tells me it's great it's not even near good. Texas will eventually get there but the industry is just too young to be putting out quality.

No it's not. According to their marketing they feature Oregon and Argentinian wines so there are certainly wines worth drinking there.

Thanks to everyone for sharing your local favorite restaurants. I like to ask the locals anytime I play a game with them to suggest something. I learned about Fuzzy's Taco Shop that way last year which we enjoyed.

Is there a good German restaurant anyone could recommend?

There's Bavarian Grill up in Plano. Kind of a distance to travel from the event but worth the trip in my opinion. If you're going to be going to DGM prior to the con it's really close to their venue.

Hey, you have to give me credit for not saying anything at all when person after person claimed that Hard 8 has good BBQ. It was damn difficult too.
