Is there any good 1-player games that take only around a hour to complete?

Oceania can be played in about 10-15 minutes.

Ingenious can also plays solo, probably in about 20 minutes.

B-17: Queen of the Skies

And if you play Magic Realm using RealmSpeak it can be done in about 30 - 45 minutes once you figure out the rules and the interface.

Great...I was intrigued by the micropul post-went to look at it and it seems like a great game - if you have a good printer and a couple of hours to make a really substandard set!

Why hasn't someone made this game available for sale?!? Nice wood/bakelite times and stones in a bag, portable, offer solo play...I'd buy it.

Here are a couple of geeklists that you might want to browse through:

If you feel like printing and cutting, then Piecepack is great. It has lots of solitaries, some puzzle like and some more adventure like. See: http://www.ludism.org/ppwiki/OnePlayerGames for a list.

I also second the recomendation of Micropul and Magic Realm. Totally different games, but both fun.

You can also play a solitarie game of Merchant of Venus in about an hour if you want (you choose the goal). It's a great game if you like the science fiction theme of space trading.

Dungeoneer: Tomb of the Lich Lord is a fun diversion with solitaire rules.

And check out Mesomorph Games (mesomorph.com) for sets of Piecepack if you don't want to trouble with building your own set.
