hi there

I'm struggling toget my head round the rules for armor and armor support. Or rather I can follow the rules, but they seem odd to me. Are the armor strengths on the units really only used to determine whether there's a column shift when the armor unit is attacking with infantry (or similar units)?

what happens when two armor uints come up against each other, or if a unit of shermans trundles up to a couple of companies of 88s?- do I still really use the combat strengths and not the armor strengths? I'm about to start Operation Epsom and I'd dearly like to try the Alleid 17 pounders agaisnt the Mark Vs and Mark VIs, but it's hard to see it beinhgmuch fdun if it's just about combat strength points.

I'm feeling like i must have missed something - any thoughts appreciated
