So what will be shown? Is the game completed or will it be playtesting?

I understand that I still cannot buy it until the campaign starts, and I have to wait till Aug 2016?

I don't know what will be shown at Essen, but playtesting has finished, so at this point it's a completed game with non-final components.

You're spot on that it's not on sale until it goes on Kickstarter on the 13th of October.

Jamey Stegmaier had a prototype at Gencon that was very nice. I am sure something similar or perhaps even better will be on the table at Essen.

I've heard that there was a lot of drama with signing up for playtesting during Gencon (too many people, not enough time/space). Are there any signups for Essen or is it first come/first served?

Sebastian: I wouldn't quite call it "drama," but there were a lot of people at Gen Con who wanted to play Scythe, and I only had one prototype there.

The prototype at Essen Spiel is an even nicer prototype. The gameplay was finished (aside from one change to one structure bonus tile) at the time that we printed the prototype.

You won't be able to buy the game at Essen, but you will be able to pledge for it on Kickstarter on October 13.

Will we be able to play it at Essen? If so, can we sign up for it?

Yeah, that :) Really interested in checking this out. I'm not aware, if you already have some initial batch of these custom coins and "realistic" resources to go with the prototype?

I have them in my personal prototype, but not at Essen. Though they might have a few treasure chests there--you can see some of the resources in those treasure chests.

"They" refer to our European Partner, Morning Players, who'll have a booth at Essen.

Axel: Morning Players won't finalize deals with international partners about Scythe until after the Kickstarter campaign, so they won't have that info at Essen.

So should I back this or wait for a german version?

Likely answer: Back and when there is a german version, I'm buying again. Provided I like the game.

.

I don't think anyone but you can answer that question, since it depends on the language skills and preferences of you and those you'll play it with.

Yeah, that's tough to answer. The German version will be the retail version, which you could then enhance with the metal coins, realistic resources, extended board, and promo cards by buying those items separately through us. Though it would end up being pretty expensive to do that, and we run the risk of selling out of those items.

Will there be a German conversion kit available for those who bought the Kickstarter version?

Only the Polish and Spanish partners decided to make language kits.
