We've been doing a fun intro of one character at a time over on the CMG FB page if you want to check it out.

Today's was for Scott Morris (131), yesterday was The Chief (130), Prior to that was Eric Summerer (129) and Rahdo (128).

We'll continue this right up to and beyond the actual live broadcast.

Here's the link...

(starts on APB #128 and will run up to about APB #135)

Keep in mind that we are increasing the difficulty for this game since we are mostly all veterans of CPD.

Thus, we'll do a...

For details see the Assignment Desk...

Wish us good luck please because we're gonna need it!

The live game is still in progress, but I gotta go. Was able to catch about 45 mins of it, and it looks very impressive! Can't wait to try it out for real. The game was a pleasure to watch!

Thanks!

BTW, will a recording be available so I can watch the rest of it?

UNPRECEDENTED

I'm still buzzing with excitement about yesterday's game.

Such Fun!

By the way, I would assert that this event was ground breaking in terms of a couple things, and most especially in terms of the combination of those things:

1. WHO

Meaning...

Who was involved in the game.

Pulling together some of the biggest names in the industry along with the publisher and designer all at one time to play a game.

Not to say that this has never happened before, but I would say that it is very rare, especially in a game so big (6-player). Having all three of those elements in one place at the same time is hard to achieve.

Another aspect that made this unique is that this was not some industry titan and his posse sitting down with a game designer and the publisher to play a game (which is rare enough), but it was a wide-ranging group of industry titans who do not particularity hang-out together when they travel to cons, etc.

So, part of it is the diversity of the group that makes this so unique.

This particular group has never sat down together all at once to play a game, and never would have had it not been for Tabletopia.

A big thanks to all the folks at TableTopia who put so much work into this platform that just keeps getting better!

(on that note, during the broadcast Tim - an exec from TableTopia - posted in the comments section of Twtich TV that they had just implemented a brand-new feature which instantly helped us play the game better. Thanks Tim!)

2. ACCESSIBLE

Meaning...

Anybody anywhere in the world could have watched the game played live (well, I guess there was that little 10 second delay). Compare this to a game played at a convention for example, where only a few by-standers who had to be at the con could view the game.

3. CAPTURED

Meaning...

This game was not just broadcast live, but was recorded and will be viewable in the near future (once the link is made available) and then forever (anytime down the road at any point it can be viewed). Which is appropriate, because it felt like a piece of history.

THE COMBO

Having the wide range of influences (Designer, Publisher, and Industry Titans) all playing a game together, AND having that game accessible live as well as captured forever seems not just rare, but even unprescidented. So, if you look at all of those factors (1-3) as a unit, I would contend that this event was something never seen before.

Am I right?

I would love to hear your thoughts.

Post below, and thanks!

blankblankblankblankQUOTESblankblankblankblank

Below are a few quotes from participants about the experience...

OLE: "Tabletopia is a great, tactile platform which proved to be a great way to enjoy a board game with people from around the world!"

RAHDO: "Good Times"

SCOTT: "Was fun!"

OLE: "it was a real pleasure playing with you all, e-meet some of my favorite podcasters and board game wizards out there - just to get thoroughly beaten by my own design :-) I blame Karl for choosing a tough difficulty setting ;-)(he has actually been doing a awesome job tweaking the difficulty settings for Police Precinct 2nd ed.)"

THE CHIEF: "Twitch Tv and Tabletopia are exciting platforms."

I'll try to add more as they come in.

Stay Tuned!

and...

Sorry again. Also thanks again because...

I really wanted to put that link up but forgot.

The host had jury duty and consequently posted it over to me a bit late, I then posted it in a few place but forgot to circle back here with it.
