Castles has become the most popular game in our local group. As a result, discussions have begun for playing up to 8 players.
Our ideas so far:
2 full games needed. (Designate 1 White, and 1 Black)
Rooms from each game go on it's own boards.
2 Master builders (1 White and 1 Black)
starting positions: MBW = 0, MBB = 0, player 3/4 =1, 5/6 =2. 7/8=3 (Table order, MBW, 3, 5, 7, MBB, 4, 6, 8)
2 contract boards on 4-player side for 5/6 player but not the 15K slot, 4-player side for 7/8 (1 White and 1 Black)
MBW, 3, 5, 7 draw starting bonus cards from White Board, and MBB, 4, 6, 8 from Black Board
MBW sets up White Contract Board
MBB sets up Black Contract Board
Buying begins with player 3, then 4,5,6,7,8,MBB,MBW
Players may buy from either board.
Purchases from White board are paid to MBW, Black to MBB
4 Favor tiles (twice as many rooms should allow for competition but not lock out.
Cannot build 2 rooms of the same name (other than stairs and hallway)
Scores all on one tower.
Special "Room Completion Bonus" rules:
Utililty - Take bonus cards from same color board as room purchased.
Food - Take extra turn after corresponding player has made initial purchase
Sleep - look at one pile on one board (not White 200 AND Black 200 for example)
Downstairs - As above if Utility, Food, or Sleep chosen.
Sounds like a fun idea, as long as you don't plan on marking my building tiles...
