If given the option, I would prefer to play with the green pieces, please.

I took the liberty of preparing a FAQ for users who are new to BGG but want to enter a contest. I've seen a lot of the same questions asked many times so hopefully this will be helpful to get people up to speed so they can focus on their game design and not on learning BGG.

Design Contest FAQ for New Users

Topics:
01. Where to Find Contest Rules
02. Creating an Entry Thread
03. BGG Formatting
04. Creating Links to Your Entry Thread
05. Adding Your Entry to a Contest Geeklist
06. Editing a Post and Updating the Title
07. Linking to External Sites (for game components)
08. Adding Pictures to Your Entry Thread
09. Subscribing to Your Entry Thread and Seeing New Replies
10. Replying and Quoting Other Posts
11. Optional: Buying an Avatar
12. Optional: Adding Your Game to BGG
13. Optional: Adding Your Game to the Contest Family
14. Optional: Adding Yourself as a Designer
15. Optional: Thumbing and Giving Geekgold to Posts
16. Optional: Choosing a License for Your Game
17. Optional: Free Art Resources for Your Game
18. Optional: Adding Your Game Entry to the Quickbar
19. Optional: Free and Affordable Resources for Creating artwork on your PC or Mobile Device

I'll be using this on all my contests going forward but anyone else is welcome to use it in other design contests as well.

How do we go about getting this pinned? This is fantastic work, Chris. I didn't ever pay any attention the Quickbar until I saw it on here. It makes things much easier.

Wow, thanks for the great info.

I thought about entering a contest once, but the learning curve just to figure out how to enter it was pretty steep. This is all the information in one place.

I really appreciate you taking the time to put this together.

This is an excellent tutorial!

I just created my first WIP entry today, and I could not have done it without the clear and exhaustive guide that you created.

Well done, and thank you soooo much!

Chris, did you do a post on how to craft great PNP games? I looked but can't find it.

It's on my list of things to do. Someday I hope to get to it.

This was an extremely helpful post, I've been thinking of entering contests for a while and this was great and very helpful.
