The head of the Wyrm may fight Gaia… but they fight each other just as much! The Wyrm is often it own worst enemy. So, along same lines of the Ultimate Showdown, we get Heads of the Hydra. Watch the heads fight and see who wins!

The Garou can also try and pit the heads against each other! All the Gaia groups may try and steal points from the Wyrm and steal the Head's power before it brings on the Apoclaypse. YES THE APOCALYPSE!

Here's the groupings!

BEAST OF WAR
These are the shock troops, pure and simple. They kill and kill and kill and kill... no amount of blood with slake their thirst for violence.

Shapeshifters- BSDs, Hellcats, other wyrm tainted Fera (includes Morgan, Amelia, and Allonzo Monotoya)


DEFILER
Everything they touch takes on some of their taint. This is the most subtle head as its influence is everywhere and nowhere at once.

Pentex- includes Execs and Pentex Fomori

EATER OF SOULS
The Wyrm’s influence if easy to see in the real world, but it’s in the realm of spirit that it’s most dangerous. Consume the spirit of something, get its body as well.

Banes- includes Banes (duh)


THE URGE WYRMS AND ELEMENTAL WYRMS
There’s 13 Urge Wyrms, devoted to everything from madness to paranoia to apathy. And each of the four Wyrm elements get their own head as well. While individually less powerful than the 3 great heads, the sheer number and variety of Urge Wyrms makes them difficult to fight.

Everybody else!- includes 7th Gen, Count Vlad, Cults, Unbound (so Fara’un Shark so far), anything not in another category

Wyrm players: Pick your head! Use characters that match the groups listed under that head. You may include up to 7 renown of something from the "wrong" head without penalty so long as it matches the aspect. If it's from the wrong head, and wrong aspect, subtract its renown off the top of your score and give it to the proper Head.
EXCEPTION: Urge Wyrm get their claws on everyone. They need 13 renown of Urge Wyrm characters, the other 7 can be anything, no penalty.

Example: if playing Beast-of-War, you need to include at least 13 renown of BSDs and fera. The other 7 renown can be Banes, fomori, etc, whatever, without penalty so long as they have the Beast of War Aspect.
If you include a 7 renown Bane in your Beast of War deck, you subtract 7 points from your total score (and BoWs score) and give it straight to the Eater of Souls. (if you had less than seven VP, they just get the balance)


gaia players: mix and match as you like. You have no construction restrictions. You do have weird scoring however!


Scoring and winning!
Much like Ultimate showdown, the Wyrm players want to rack up points for their Head. Gaia players, you want to steal points from the Heads. Why? CAUSE OTHERWISE BAD STUFF HAPPENS.

What bad stuff? Apocalypse type bad stuff, based on which head is winning. Once one of the heads goes past 100 points, it will trigger some sort of global VERY BAD THING thing based on the signs of the coming Apocalypse. We're talking the rivers boiling off, all the cubs dying, all spirits becoming Banes, etc, type bad. But you won't know what the bad thing is 'til it happens. (though you can look at the Prophesy of the Phoenix and the Apocalypse book for WtA to get an indication of what these bad things might be)

Now, wait, why don't we all play Gaia then? Cause the Wyrm offers up its own enticements. Top scoring player for each Head gets a prize. You Gaia kids just get the warm fuzzy feeling of saving the world.

Oh wait, that's not enough, oh allllright. The Gaia player that steals the most points from the Heads gets a prize too and the Gaia player who has the most non-kill Victory Points (so from binding, quests, moots, whatever, so long as you didn't kill something) will get a prize. That means there's six total prizes up for grabs.


So how do you get points? Wyrm's got the easiest time. Basically anything that gets them points gets them points for their head, with one restriction. Killing a Wyrm creature will steal points from a Head and give them to the killer. So, if Longtooth Soulkiller kills Count vlad, he gets 10 points for Beast of War, the Urge Wyrms lose 10. Owch. Try not to fight too much among yourselves...


Gaia players, your primary purpose is to steal points from the Heads. Which means being warriors and killing the servants of the Wyrm. You can also get a prize by being the player to rack up the non-kill points. You're warrior mystics afterall. Somebody has to be the mystics!

So to rack up your score, you need to kill things serving the appropriate Head. Killing non-Wyrm creatures gets you points towards winning a single game... but won't do your cumulative score. Smooshing Lamuran cause he's a pain wins you a single game, but doesn't win the war. (unless you reveal him to be a Skindancer first)

(I'll post an exhaustive list of what creatures count as what later today)

Timeframe
Heads of the Hydra will start when the Gauntlet updates are uploaded OR one week after the end of Ultimate Showdown, whichever is later. (yes, really, PaF does have the Gauntlet updates in his hot little hands. Whippoorwill shall work differently shortly) I'll announce an end time shortly after start, depending on how enthusiastic people are about playing out the Apocalypse. It will be a two-three month long tournament.

Prizes
The top scorer for each of the Heads gets a prize. The Gaia player that steals the most points from the heads gets a prize. The Gaia player who has the most non-kill Victory Points gets a prize.
You'll get to pick one item from a list of prints, originals, and other goodies I have in my paws. Or you can take a 1 month pass for VtES.

A new twist on the tournament: the rules have changed!!!

It's cool like on reality shows where they don't tell you all the rules at the start and you have to change gears mid-stride. Things might just get more interesting.

The Wyrm's on its way towards bringing on the Apocalypse, but little did the players realize there were also secret conditions where Gaia could fight back and forestall the Apocalypse!

Here's the Apocalyptic events the Wyrm has triggered (both were triggered by Beast of War):
Event 1: Army the militias

"Allies and Prey creatures can use character only Non-Fetish Equipment. You can't give Equipment direct to Allies and Prey, the equipment must be traded to them from a character. The family of Five doesn't know where to go to buy a Submachine Gun, but if some kind stranger hands them one, they won't turn it down!
(so no Red Talons passing out Shotguns, they have to equip the gun first, then give it to an Ally or Prey creature)
Allies and Prey must still meet all other requirements on non-Fetish Equipment to use it. The Wild Animals can't use a Shotgun, no matter how much duct tape you use to try and attach it to them.

This applies to ALL packs and ALL Allies and Prey creatures. Beast of War handed out items like candy. They didn't check referances. Some items may since have fallen into their foes hands. Oops. Army of the Hellbringer doesn't care, that just means more corpses to devour!"


Event 2: Blood Lust
Creatures that cannot normally do so may do so if hit with a card effect that will cause them to frenzy. Creatures which cannot normally frenzy cannot use the Combat Events Frenzy and Battle Fervor to enter frenzy, but if hit with something like Song of Rage, Red Hot Baby Powder, or a Low Blow they WILL frenzy.

This includes Allies and Prey.

If Prey frenzies, one player draw the cards for frenzy. (the defending players may choose among themselves who draws the cards for frenzy) While Prey is frenzied, only the player that drew cards for the frenzy may play cards for the frenzied play.
In the unlikely event you have pack defending Prey and one creature frenzies and the rest don't, the player that drew cards for frenzy may play for any of the Prey. The players that did not draw for frenzy may not play for the frenzied creature, but may play for the unfrenzied ones.

Creatures that are prevented from frenzying by a card effect like Caern of the Weeping Daughter, Heart of Fury, Memory Ribbon, New Moon, etc, STILL can't frenzy under these conditions.



And Gaia struck back and got one counterattack in so far.

Counterattack 1: Starving the beast so it turns on itself
If you control a Child of Gaia character, you may remove it and a Victim of your choice from the game at the end of turn. The CoG will return to play at the beginning of the next Umbra phase. You may only have one CoG per pack perform this task. (it may step sideways as normal when it returns in Umbra. It returns just in time to do the Umbra boogie. It does regenerate while out of play) The CoG must be able to interact with the Victim its trying to rescue! If it's the umbra, it can't remove the Family of Five from harms way!



There's a bunch more conditions to trigger for various groups, plus some additional counterattacks AND some more secret victory conditions!
