In the CoK expansion (which I don't have yet), it adds the option for fortifications, in which case it also seems that one would need to use the siege engines as well. We just started playing the game regulary and don't want to add a whole lot of options just yet.

One thing we noticed, if you have to leave an area, to remain in control you spend a power token. However, another player can march right in with just 1 footman to remove that token.

Has anyone played with a house-rule that areas with cities and strongholds also provide an automatic defense bonus (in addition to defense order tokens), maybe +1 for cities and +2 for strongholds? We were thinking of trying this in order for players to try and decide whether they wanted to assemble armies to go after other players area of influence that are not defended by footmen or knight tokens. Or would this bog down the game, creating too few areas of which to march into?

We have a group of 5 that love this game, just trying to think of some more ways in which to add strategy.
