What do you do with an older tunnel tile if I bought a replacement? Does the new one stack on the old one or is the old one discarded and replaced by the new tile? This is important because of the balancing on the tunnel sides.

You keep all of the tiles you buy. All of them remain for you to try and balance your mine at the end of the game.

yes, there are no replacements, only additions. They don't stack, either. You place the new one next to the old one. You could have multiple carts on one row that all have coal in them still, but even if they are empty, they all remain visible.

This is a sloth. It accurately represents my style of life.

You can think of it as digging deeper into the shaft. The tunnel so far remains, and a new section is opened up and its coal mined into the lorry.

I didn't think you could have multiple loaded carts at one time - Good to know you can.
