I am considering getting the revised edition of Empire and using it as a campaign system for Commands & Colors: Ancients but I am wondering if any can advise how Empire is used as a campaign for the tactical aspects of Lost Battles?
Does Empire simply link to specific scenarios in Lost Battles?
How are forces generated, and losses handled?
Is the scenery randomly generated?
Does anybody have any experience using Empire with Commands & Colors: Ancients?
The gist of it is that the combined game assigns historical Lost Battles scenarios to use in particular campaigns, and then alters the victory calculations of each battle to align more closely with the odds of winning in Empire.
Hope that helps.
As for using Empire with Commands & Colors: Ancients, there's no reason why you couldn't do so; you'd just need to work out for yourself how to reflect the Empire victory odds in the tactical battles. It could be as simple as adding a banner to the score needed, adding/reducing a card to the players' hands, or choosing battles which give the advantage to one side over the other. Or you could ignore the odds and play using Don Clarke's Scenario X battle generation system.
