The 2 players: me (blue penguins), my husband (green penguins)

My strategy: get as many 3-fish tiles as I could as fast as I could. I placed my penguins so they would be moved to 3-fish tiles on my first several movements.

Husband’s strategy: cut off my movement and get my penguins stranded on ice floesdevil. He placed his penguins randomly as far away from my penguins as he could.

Actual play: I racked up my 3-fish tiles in my first several movements. My husband continued to rack up 1-fish tiles, but eventually changed to getting the 2-fish tiles. I started to see the hubby’s strategy – his penguins were moving closer to mine, cutting off my movement, and he did manage to strand all of my penguins on ice floes (eventually). I managed to get one of his penguins stranded on an ice floe, and he eventually stranded his own while still being able to get more fish. I wish I would have used his “cut off and strand” strategy, but I really just wanted the 3-fish tiles because I figured I’d have a better chance of winning.

The final score: me – 42, my husband – 34. I had almost of the 3-fish tiles, my husband had 1.

I was surprised at how quickly the game went – we played for 15 minutes. I was also surprised at how much fun I had. We plan on playing again tonight.
