maybe I'm just not seeing it anywhere, but, when, due to light wounds or overstacking or whatever, i can split up a squad, how exactly does that work? i know i get teams of the same quality, but how do i know their quality? people are saying it's on the OB sheet, but i'm not getting how to read that. is a weapon team elite, line, or green? what do i get if i break up a milita squad? either it's right in front of me and i'm not getting it, or it's not clearly spelled out anywhere. i'm the type of gamer that needs a bulleted step-by-step, and i'm not finding that.

thanks for all the help, and great game...although i haven't won yet...

This has been discussed in several other threads:

A nice summary posted by the designer:

Chad Jensen wrote:
Every nationality has Elite, Line and Green Teams. Every scenario will assign a player a Troop Quality of Elite, Line or Green. Whenever any Squad breaks down into a Team (via Light Wounds Action, Deploy Event, or overstacking, for example) the Team you grab must match your Troop Quality. It has nothing to do with the name of the Squad, which is just a representative and evocative title that has exactly zero impact on the play of the game.

This is assigned during Scenario set-up as you will be told your side is something like Line/3. Line is the quality you use for deploy (and similar) actions. 3 is the number of orders you can give per turn.

In any scenario- published or randomly generated- your entire force will have a defined Troop Quality: elite, line or green. It is this overall troop quality, and not the quality of the individual squad being deployed/replaced that defines the quality of the team(s) to be placed. So, eg. if your Russian force is of Elite quality and you deploy a Militia squad, then you will use Elite teams, and not Green teams. Hope this makes sense.
