A friend of mine is starting his PhD studies in Physics and is moving to another city for this. We want to give him a game with a fitting theme as a farewell gift.

Can you recommend games that...

- have a theme related to science, physics, climate/weather or similar topics?
- are not very large and have a reasonable price (we want to ship it internationally to him)?
- ideally have a German edition (although English would also be fine)?

Many thanks already for your help and ideas!

High Frontier (3rd edition).

Not out yet but I cannot think of anything more fitting. Phil is based in Germany so it shouldn't be a problem

I second Compounded. It is not an overwhelmingly large game when set up. It is easy to set up, covers the science aspect, and should not be to bad on shipping internationally.

Thanks to everyone for the good recommendations!
Especially Alchemists and CO2 are a very good fit.

The nice thing is, Alchemists is currently available for 30 EUR at amazon.de, which would still fit into our budget

Magic Realm requires a PhD to understand, maybe get it after he graduates?

I built a PnP copy of this myself, I know what you mean. The game deserves it's own bachelor degree.

I particularly like the "least you need to know to play magic realm" rules summary - 8 pages printed from top to bottom...
