What is the difference (beside the box) between the Avalon Hill and the L2 DeLuxe version?

A few rules changes, which can be found here: https://boardgamegeek.com/filepage/100093/avalon-hill-l2-rul...

Slightly different art on the map. The river/flooded boundaries are more obvious, though there’s less contrast on the map as a whole. So opinions differ as to whether it’s “better.” Also, the Zones line up to the map in an undeniably more intuitive way.

No values on the units changed, but the divisions are color-coded in the L2 version. I think this is huge step up for ease-of-play, but some people don’t care.

In short: If you want to play the L2 rules with an AH set, you absolutely can. Or any combination of L2 and AH, really.

The L2 map is larger and the game pieces benefit from the advances in printing technology since 1992. Big improvement for us more, um, mature gamers.
