Based on my reading of the preview, it seems similar to Runewars in space?

Anyone else think this looks FREAKING AWESOME!!!

Lore wise though, half of the galaxy is unexplored in Star Wars. Known as the Unknown Regions and largely unexplored because no reliable hyperspace routes were found

is it me or does those minis look really good? I mean the Executor? If only I could get that for X wing.....may be a tad big for my house. And the manoeuvre template would be bigger

Ok, so if we go with all the original canon crap, then actually the known Galaxy in Star Wars is only wedge shaped....no idea why, but it's in the books etc...so seems FFG are being loyal to the old canon.

Otherwise.....JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY!!!

I know it's just representative of taking control of a planet, but I had a good laugh at their example that showed an AT-AT being deployed on Bespin, a gas giant...

I've already earmarked funds for this.

What I think is most interesting is the implication for their license. This treads on Hasbro's side of things - I don't think there's any way to say this is a miniatures game.

It seems as if FFG's handling of the license is making Disney happy enough that they're opening up options for them. Good news all around.

Ooo, I hope it's like Freedom In The Galaxy! It looks like it might've taken a lot of inspiration from it, which is only fair, since FitG stole so much from Star Wars.

This looks like the Star Wars board game I've always wanted, something like Star Wars original trilogy RISK in scope, but maybe more like War of the Ring in thematic treatment. (All the sweet looking miniatures are a nice bonus!)

Mentioned this over on BGG, but this seriously looks like Star Wars: Empire at War re-imagined as a board game. Not saying that's a bad thing, mind you.

I think it looks a bit closer to a board game version of Star Wars: Rebellion minus the expanded universe stuff, but Empire at War was basically a remake of Rebellion with RTS style land and space battles added, anyways.

This reminds me very much of a PC game I used to have.

And surprisingly, the similarities I am seeing here extend way beyond sharing a name. It really does look like a PC-to-tabletop port.
