So you move your people around on the big map using this game, fight space battles using Armada, planetary battles using IA, and pretty much kiss real life goodbye...

Only if you have a giant grid, and some AT-AT models.

Still, I want this.

Maybe add Assault on Hoth: The Empire Strikes Back for larger-scale ground battles.

Now that X-Wing has kind of faded, I have room for this in my gaming calendar.

We don't know anything about the game mechanics, so we don't know how well Armada sessions could be integrated into this as a campaign. But that thought does illustrate why FFG needs to come up with a ground battle game as well.

...maybe since they're porting Armada fighters as playing pieces here, they'll back-port the mini AT-ATs, T-47s, and troops into a ground battle minis game?...

This does look suitably epic though. It's less a board-game version of the PC Rebellion and more like FFG's take on the old Star Wars original trilogy Risk. It's probably that mixed with lessons learned from Forbidden Stars.

This game looks great.

Am I the only guy thinking how long it will take to paint 150 gaming pieces?

As cool as it looks, my group probably won't be getting into this, even if it is a stand-alone game and not a mini game like X-Wing or Armada. Between IA (we have played one campaign, hope to start a second one with Twin Shadows soon), the co-op X-Wing campaign, and I hope to adapt the AI from that into Armada to put together a co-op campaign for this, we have tons of time invested in FFG Star Wars.

I want this, but I'm still going to work on my galaxy wide conquest game... This is still too small for what I'm going for, but this looks amazingly awesome.

Looks like a good holiday game when the family is all together. Too bad it doesn't come out until "Q1 2016". Of course if they are using Armada scheduling then that means it might be out by July 4th weekend.

Yeah. Would be interested if FFG released a ground combat equivalent of Armada with AT-ATs and the like...
