In the rules for Melee it is stated that fractions ROUND UP.

So I get their example of 5:2 which is 2.5:1 that goes up to 3:1. That's 5th grade rounding, I get it.

But do all fractions round up. For example 9:4 which is 2.25:1. Is that 3:1 also?

Thanks in advance for any help/opinions.

I didn't notice this first glancing through the new rules. Usually, in war games close combat, odds are rounded in favor of the defender.
In 4.0 EVERY fraction is rounded up for sake of simplicity.
So, following the rules, your 9:4 becomes 3:1.
Melees are far more deadly in HoP....

We've gone with a blanket "fractions round up" throughout the system for simplicity and to keep you from having to check every time.

49 out of 50 times we are talking about halves. If I had a 9:4, honestly, I'd go with 2:1, sticking with the (it's actually 3rd grade) rounding. If you want to be strict with the rule than go 3:1. In these rare cases, come to a reasonable agreement with your opponent.

Thank you Ruben and Jeff.

I like to be on the same wavelength as other players. It looks like this definitely will be an item to clarify before a game.

See:

Melee for v4.1. The left column is for the attacking units, the upper row is for the defenders.
