Jackasses? You let a whole column get stalled and strafed on account of a couple of jackasses? What the hell's the matter with you?

It's a good thing your spacesuit is designed to deal with pooping.

That would be one hell of an engagement ring.

As I understand it, names for some of these planets was put up for a vote from the public. Voting might be closed at this point.

I see the smiley there, but let me give you the Old Man perspective—stop fidgeting! Perspective is all we have left!

Look at it this way:

When Star Wars came out we had no actual evidence of extrasolar planets.

Yeah—that mainstay of science fiction from the get-go? No one had seen any yet. Of course we could assume, based on our own crazy zoo of planets, that such a solar system as ours was perhaps commonplace, but we had no proof. Maybe the geocentrist theologians were right, and God made exactly one solar system for us in all of Creation...

But then we did find proof—in the 1990s.

The 1990s.

This means that when I took astronomy in college the idea of other solar systems with planets was an unproven theory.

So, yeah, maybe I'm excited enough to poop a little.

While this might seem like a missed opportunity, we all know that any placeholder names will get scrubbed by the colonists who actually brave the rigors of interstellar travel to get there, like those in coldsleep:

New Eden
Camus II

Poindexter's World (First one out of the pods gets dibs!)

or a generation ship:

FUCK OFF
Get Your Own
Boobies!

or, more realistically, goddamn machines:

Dang that is cool. It's like a poster for all the gas giants in DC Comics' "alternate universes". Or one of those colorblind tests...

Thanks for sharing the link.

Diamond exoplanet you say. Interesting.

I have every confidence that upon hearing this news DeBeers will be the next innovator of interstellar travel and come up with some futuristic way of getting the first warlord to an extrasolar planet.

Roll initiative, DeBeers.

Judging from the exoplanet graphic, it looks like a machine named "Kepler" is already on it.
