Had an opportunity to play this game last night (4 players with only one having played prior). What a fun theme! I honestly did not expect too much from this other than the person introducing it to us is a very seasoned gamer whose recommendations I greatly appreciate.

First, although at first glance the game looks very light (1950's themed art and simple graphics) it is not. This is a heavier game to learn and likely even more so to develop thoughtful and successful strategies.

All 4 of us enjoyed the game very much and hope to play again. I find the game to be initially very approachable with an easy to digest theme for less seasoned or casual board gamers and would hope that this will induce more play with folks who tend to shy away from complicated rules.

The only downsides might be:

1. The box contents do not do well to organize themselves for play (e.g. our game owner developed a card holder to help with card display and printed some player guides that he affixed to the menu/player aid). I come from the camp that I would rather pay a bit more for a complete game that plays optimally and stores optimally without additional customization; aka Lazy.

2. This game would really seem to benefit from 3D pieces for the restaurants and other board pieces to enhance the theme and add visually. We all seemed to agree that it would be cool for play to have miniatures or a more 3D type look.

All in all, a fun fun fun complex game!

I could have played it last Saturday but my health was not to good to give it a go after the first game with my pimped Antiquity

I love Splotters and even though I promised myself I wouldn't buy new games in 2015 I just couldn't resist and it's on the way with another great game from Vital - The Gallerist

Yeah, the theme, artwork and inside jokes (the first player(s) to throw away food will be given a...fridge !) make this game seems naive but it is a true gamer's game.

It is competitive straight from the beginning, not only for chosing the place for the first restaurant but also for the milestones.

Marketing campaigns is the way to screw other players but they could possibly help them too.

FCM reminds me of TGZ from this perspective:
- first placement of restaurant vs first placement of monument
- milestones vs specialists/gods
- notion of range to reach demand and drinks
- marketing campaigns vs craftsmen
- turn order is crucial

But it is way more thematic and less abstract : i enjoy the way how the organization is built and run ; how the abilities of characters are sounding thematically ; how it is a little slow for your organization to react and adapt itself to the changing demands and board positions. This make the game less dry and more engaging to me.

This game has zeppelin pilots picking up beer. Ontop of being a rich, deep, challenging strategy economic game; is there anything more that needs to be said?

EDIT:

Oh wait yes, the player aids are shaped like diner menus.

Comparisons to TGZ are what got me to order. If I love FCM, I'll see about tricking it out with some nicer components.
