Sorry, guys. This game is BO-ring. So many good dice games out there, there's just no room on the shelf for this. Simplicity of design is great and all but this is pushing that concept past the breaking point. I get "No Thanks" and "The Game" but this is Jacks with dice.

But your video and your convivial vibe is entertaining as ever. Keep up the great work on these playthroughs.

While this game is not necessarily for everyone, it certainly has its time, place, and group. It would never be the main feature of one of my game nights with the game group, but it's great with my kids, my in-laws, and when we've got just a bit of game time remaining.

Thanks for the review!

I LOVE light games and dexterity games too, but I'm definitely in "the small sub-set" on this one. Glad you guys like it though. I'd be MUCH more interested to see the excellent and underrated Safranito be featured on GameNight! in the future.

That's a Palm Pilot on the left, and a pink iPod mini on the right. Yes, I've been doing BGTG that long!

Well, you know where I stand on this one. I'm very happy to see my friends having a good time, but I just don't get the appeal of Strike! at all. And though I may be a fairly serious guy, you also know that I like a lot of light, silly, fun games, as well as many dice games. Can't find a way to enjoy this one, though.

By the way, I know Strike! was at BGGcon back in 2013, because Greg Pettit talked about it on my podcast that year. I'm not sure why it didn't take off then. (Even though I don't like it, I recognize that most people do.) Perhaps now it will.

Tonight on GameNight, Remember that 2+ hour 504 episode I had to edit?, how about we try a short game?!

This is the perfect choice of game, one that deserves more attention. Thanks for the episode!

Anthony,

It's been on Amazon for a while. It's actually a little difficult to find. I was able to have it show up first in my search after looking for while by typing "Strike Ravensburger".

Thanks for the note and for watching.

Interesting. It is a typical bar dice game with a custom bowl. Fun to watch. It looks just as simple and addicting as most bar dice games.

Totally valid opinion - one very striking (heh heh) thing about this game is how reactions are extremely polarized on it. It truly is a "love it or hate it" game.

Couldn't disagree more. This is so fun - hooting and hollering always happens. We just love it and have played over 100 times.

While I'm glad there are people that like it, I was also flabbergasted by how great some people think it is. I was introduced to it at Nuremburg 2013, and left wondering why the heck they bothered showing this to me, thinking it was a game I'd never see or hear of again.

Normally, even if I don't like a game, I can understand what other people like about it. However, Strike! has me stumped as to what the draw is, even though I like a lot of other stupid silly games. Glad to see it has its fans nevertheless!

I can't explain it. It's barely a game. And yet, I love it. I think what I get out of this is the same thing I get out of casino games like Roulette or Let It Ride or other games that heavily favor the house. Those are mostly "fun" because of the gambling/money aspect, and this one is fun because of the last-longer-than-your-friends aspect. And no money on the line (though in some groups...)

Todd, you might actually be in the majority here Not that it matters, either way.

Love this game! Aaron is spot-on about it generally going over great with kids and casual gamers. I'm gonna be bringing this out a lot over the holidays.

Sometimes it's the simple that is fun depending on the setting. This is a social game. Not so much a board game night game. As I said earlier it reminds me of most bar dice games. At the bar I typically play 456, 3s, and 5s with my friends. LCR is 456 but custom dice to make it easier to know what the actions are.

3s you start with 5 dices. Roll all dices. You have to select one dice to keep and re-roll the rest. 3s are 0s points, the rest are face value. The person with the least amount of points wins. 5s is similar except you remove dice that add up to 5. As soon as you can't do that your score is the left over dice. Strike seems kind of similar to these two games.

Though, as you see, most bar dice games don't really give you a choice, you just do what the dice tell you. Strike is the same except you do have one choice, how many dice to roll.

Zombie Dice is similar. I would bet it is based off a bar dice game since there are many bar dice games that are press your luck. Your only choice there is do you roll again or not. You still have to do what the dice tell you to do.

Edit: thinking about it there is another bar dice game I haven;t played in awhile which may be actually 456. Though many have similar names it is hard to keep track. You have 5 dice. You have to roll a 4 on the first roll. A 5 on the second roll, and a 6 on the third roll. Left over dice are points. If you don't roll the 4, 5, and 6 you are out.

If you are into all those pub dice game (as I am), I highly recommend the book Dice Games Properly Explained. Knizia explains dozens of them... the rules, strategies, and some of the maths behind them. It's a great read... this and half a dozen dice in you pocket gives you a couple hundred games to play. I keep my copy in my Las Vegas box, along with score sheets for Qwixx and Reiner Knizia's Decathlon, and a Perudo board. It's my little box of big dicey fun.

If the objective is to have the most dice, then rolling more than one each turn is a bad idea unless there are a lot of dice in the middle, as if you just get a pair, you get the same dice back (in the best case)

Would make a lot more sense if you were trying to get rid of all your dice, so "pushing your luck" would actually be what the game is.

I assume if you throw a die that knocks the only other die out of the arena, AND the die you threw leaves the arena also, you can stop rolling and force the next player to roll all their dice?
