Received this game on Monday and we have 2.5 games under our belts. Wow, just wow. We are loving every minute of exploring and learning this game.

One notable event has not yet occured for us...intermediate scoring. Is this possible? Are we doing something wrong? For 2P there are 10 of each ticket available?

Thanks,
Andrew

Are you discarding the tickets when used?

We have always seen it happen in two player games.

Make sure that when a ticket is used, you aren't placing back in the pile of available tickets. It needs to be placed off to the side of the board and only used to "make change" for ticket colors as explained in the rulebook.

Have you been doing this correctly?

Yes, and both games it was an empty Meeple bag and 2 Artist Celebrities that ended the game.

I wonder if maybe you just got very unlucky with the different ways to collect tickets? There are a lot of variable things that can give tickets, I suppose it could have just worked out for you that you had very few of the art works, contracts, and artist bonuses that give tickets? That seems odd two games in a row, but it could happen.

Then it sounds like you are doing everything correctly. It would be interesting to hear from Vital how common this is. I suppose it just depends on how you play the game.

We have found that in 2 player games the Intermediate Scoring does happen quite late and serves more as a final money/prestige boost for the last few rounds. Our games typically end on an empty bag and all tickets used, so I guess it is a play style difference.

It could be just "unlucky".

Every Art piece you buy gives 1-2 tickets. You can get 3 tickets for three contracts. Promoting your artist can get you tickets, buying more assistants, and the foreign market and auction spaces can also get you tickets.

Maybe we are both, 2P game, employing too general a strategy a should focus more on a single type of visitor.

Thanks Brian. Could be. Hearing other people experiences is why I posted. Very interested to see what others say.

It just depends on how you play the game. Nothing more. Thats why the game has different end game conditions.

If you don't move many people around or you distribute very well the ticket between different kinds of visitors, you may end up by not taking that scoring that usually happens late in the game.

Also remember that intermediate scoring occurs when the pile of just one color of tickets is depleted, not all the tickets entirely. We've had the intermediate scoring happen in every game we've played but have never had running out of tickets be one of our end game triggers.

Thanks Vital!! Always appreciate your engagement with the community. Love the game and still wrapping our heads around it. Happy to know this is possible...I really appreciate just how varied the game play can be from player to player and game to game.

Right, this is being handled correctly. We have yet to deplete one stack of tickets, let alone all of them. Good to know you are hitting the intermediate scoring regularly...do you play 2P? how late in the game has it happened?

Thanks!

2 player is the only way I've ever played. In our two plays its happened around the halfway point in the game or perhaps a little later. My wife and I typically focus a lot on acquiring new art and promoting the artists we're invested in and don't really shift a heavy focus to the market and rep tracks until later on in the game. We also focus heavily on moving visitors to make the influence and money bonuses more lucrative so when presented with an option of bonuses to take, we will often take bonuses that give tickets earlier in the game which is likely why we are burning through the ticket pile quickly.

Are you removing the correct amount of tickets for 2 players? For 2 players there are only 10 tickets of each type at the start of the game.

Correct.

Last night we had our first intermediate scoring...it happened late in the game. I think it just comes down to strategies and improving our proficiency at the game. 3 games in 4 nights since we received the game...can't wait to play again!

The bonuses that score either influence or money, based on VIPS or Investors, really encourage you to specialize. If you're triggering those with a balanced mix of visitors, they just don't pay off as much as if you go heavy in one type. And if you're not triggering them, then you're missing an opportunity.

Alternatively, selling a lot of artwork and bringing in a lot of collectors lets you jack up your artist's fame a ton. But if you're going that route, you'll want a lot of white tickets.

It may be possible to play a more balanced visitor strategy, I won't pretend to be an expert on the game, but there's definitely reasons you might not want to.
